Now David Willis is defending me and common decency in general!

I continue to find this whole saga hilarious, though I am baffled that it has gotten as much attention as it has.

I know some people do not like cosplay. That is fine. However, there are diplomatic ways to express that dislike, such as, "I do not like cosplay."

I also know that some people do not like the Transformers Collectors' Club magazine. That is fine, too. Ideally that dislike should be expressed politely and coupled with constructive criticism, if at all possible. For example, "I don't like the cosplayers on the cover. I would rather see new toys on the cover," would be a good constructive comment to express a certain viewpoint.

For the record, I'm not actually hurt or upset. I am darkly amused. So some people are not communicating effectively or politely on the internet. That's not news.

*snrk* I like that the person's name is Split Lip, and everyone wants to give him one to defend your honor.

Also: your costume was awesome. I'm not sure if I managed to actually *say* that to you, beyond thinking it...

According to Ra, Split Lip is actually a lady.

Thank you, Poptarts! :) I appreciate it.

No worries. As a lady of (considerable) size, the whole "fat cosplayer" thing irritates me to begin with. That's one of the reasons I quit cosplaying (the other being that everyone is better at it than me and I am a jealous, jealous bitch. XD) It doesn't matter what your costume looks like, or how much work was put into it; all some people see is the person in the costume and they want to tear them down for whatever reason, and weight/size is an easy way to shame people into toeing the line again. HOW DARE YOU BE AN INDIVIDUAL, I SAY!

I can understand you not wanting to do an activity where people are going to make fun of you purely for doing it, even though it is a harmless activity. Bringing up weight/size is, to me, the sad, tired fall back of someone who has nothing constructively critical to say.

With regards to the jealousy, though, there is always going to be someone better, in almost any activity. I'm able to ignore that and still have fun, but if that makes the activity no longer fun for you, by all means, pursue a different passion. :)

And things like this are why I will forever refer to TFW as the YouTube Comments of Transformers Forums.

I don't post on TFW. I have too much going on with my life to keep up with another board. So I have no idea if the posters there tend to be catty or what. I will take your word on it!

Well, save for a few select threads dedicated to non-TF things, and the good experiences I've had with their buy/sell/trade area, any time I read stuff there, it's about as painful as reading YouTube comments.
