Interesting AU idea about Emirate Xaaron

Emirate Xaaron's troops seem to, by and large, love him. They will disagree with him and tell him when he's being daft. They sometimes resent him. They sneak off without his orders. However, for all his biting wit and his cruel flaws, they really seem to adore him. Skater seems to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown from worrying over Emirate Xaaron's safety when Emirate Xaaron goes missing for a few weeks. Impactor, the defiant leader of the Wreckers who has no trouble with mouthing off to Emirate Xaaron, dies for him twice. The Wreckers gets some poor Autobot technicians pasted by zombies through panic and stupidity, but when Emirate Xaaron is threatened, they are on the ball. The Micromasters, expecting death from Emirate Xaaron, present themselves to him anyway, seemingly more upset about the fact that they failed him than the fact that he's going to have them executed. When Galvatron comes, his troops insist that he seek safety rather than risk himself, and they have to know that Galvatron is going to kill them dead for making that stand.

The Decepticons, meanwhile, hate him, and rightfully so. They hate Emirate Xaaron so much that given the chance to kill him, just killing Impactor is not enough.

While Emirate Xaaron is getting all this worship and devotion from the Autobots and dread and hatred from the Decepticons, Primus has been nearly forgotten. Bumblebee doesn't remember that they even have a god until Emirate Xaaron reminds him. Many Autobots think they evolved from naturally occurring gears and pulleys. Rodimus Prime also doesn't know who Primus is until it is explained to him. It would seem that they have lost their faith.

The funny thing is, though, is that Emirate Xaaron is Primus's avatar, a lesser aspect of the Transformer god. They spin their machinations in the same casually cruel way, and in the end, they both try to do what is right. Perhaps it is fit that the Autobots are so devoted to Emirate Xaaron, because he is their god, and the Decepticons, who work against Primus's directive to protect the growing life of the universe, fear and loathe him.

So the odd AU idea is that Emirate Xaaron, being more divine than most of these children of a living god, actually needs the adulation to survive. There is the idea that a deity is only as strong as how many worshippers he has, and if he is not longer worshipped, he dies.

I'm sure there is a fic in this, wherein he is torn away from the constant devotion and slowly fades away, and it has the potential to be quite fairy tale like, like the Princess who must find her True Love or perish. Emirate Xaaron's specifications are a bit broader. Someone who Truly Loves him would work, but someone who is devoted to him in another way would work just as well.

Given the odd nature of the curse, it would be quite likely that Emirate Xaaron would die, never knowing what was wrong. If he did know about this curse of his, I would see him rather angry about it, that he should be set apart as so different from everyone else.

The idea has been around for a while and in different places. Thank you for the link. Interesting concepts, there!

Mainly, I'm just yoinking the idea that gods need veneration of some sort, and plopping it down on Emirate Xaaron's lap (much to his consternation) because he happens to be a god on his off days.

It would be harder to apply in the cartoon, since they don't have the divine origin.

It could be applied decently easily to Beast Wars and Beast Machines, since they have a Primus. I'm sure one could do a weird post-BM cult of Megatron. He was the Allspark! All but one, anyway.

It could apply to the Thirteen in Dreamwave.

Et cetera.

Spiffy idea, but then, I've been chattering with you for a bit about this. :)

Interesting points there, very interesting! Hadn't really noticed the whole Xaaron is adored, Primus is ignored thing. Not sure about the adulation for survival AU idea part, but the rest is very intruiging.

Well, Emirate Xaaron is there for both the Autobots and the Decepticons in a way that Primus isn't. Emirate Xaaron is there to guide the Autobots to victories and to thwart the Decepticons on a day to day basis. What he's done by starting with 100 Autobots must seem something of a miracle.

This is entirely true. He is a sneaky bastard.

Interesting idea indeed.
